• AWAKEN THE DAWN •

A person should strengthen himself like a lion to rise up in the morning for the service of his Creator, so that it is he who awakens the dawn. Gloss: “I set HaShem before me always” (Tehillim 16:8)—this is a major principle in fulfillment of the Torah.
(Shulchan Arukh, Orach Chaim 1:1).

• MODEH ANI •

Modeh anee lefanecha melech chai vekayam, she-he-chezarta bee nishmatee b’chemla, raba emunatecha
I thank you, living and enduring king, for You have graciously returned my soul within me. Great is your faithfulness.

This was The Lubavitcher Rebbe’s favorite prayer.
It is where we see Hashem’s faith in us, that He gives us another day even though it is not owed to us. And so we are should meditate on this first thing in the morning, just as the first law in the Shulchan Aruch asks of us.

• MANTRA •

The mantra Ribbono Shel Olam (Master of the Universe) was used as early as the 1st century B.C.E. by Shimon ben Shevach and according to the Talmud it was also used in biblical times.

Rebbe Nachman of Breslov spoke about hitbodedut (a personal convo with God) more than any other, he would always tell people if they didn’t know what to say they should simply repeat Ribbono Shel Olam as a way to reach higher states of consciousness and bring oneself to a place where they are ready to enter into a conversation with and a way to get close to God.
(Rabbi Aryeh Kaplan)

• HITBODEDUT / MEDITATION •

May we all rid ourselves of doubt, release the chains of our own struggles and the parts of our minds that enslave us, and manifest the Promised Land within ourselves. I’ll leave you with this blessing, which are the lyrics to Akiva’s gorgeous Breslov Niggun, off his album,אל תעזבי ידיים (Al Ta’azvi Yadayim):

Master of the universe, give me the strength that I can illuminate my face towards every being

To see the good points in my friends and not what they are lacking

Give me the eyes to see the great good and kindness you do in the world

That I judge myself and others positively

And that I’m constantly humble, and lowly in my own eyes.

And that I love with all my heart my entire life

I want to thank you, Hashem on all that I have

and I also want to thank you for that which is lacking and help me do it without feeling shame

And that I should remember that it’s always possible to return, and to fix everything anew.

• REBBE NACHMAN •

For the Jew must always focus on the inner intelligence of every matter, and bind himself to the wisdom and inner intelligence that is to be found in each thing. This, so that the intelligence which is in each thing may enlighten him, that he may draw closer to God through that thing. For the inner intelligence is a great light that shines for a person in all his ways. As it is written (Ecclesiastes 8:1), “A person’s wisdom causes his countenance to shine.”
[Likutei Moharan (1:2)]

The second call is the person who studies Torah this is a truer call, then one who calls only with prayer. Prayer resembles a desperate plea: study is a soft call of a child, asking his father to stand by him always.
