Words Create Worlds @ Der Nister (open mic stories & poetry event)

March 30, 2023 @ 7:00 PM - 10:00 PM

In celebration of Erez Safar’s 3rd book in the Light of the Infinite series, The Sound of Illumination, we are partnering up with Der Nister, our favorite hidden gem in DTLA to host a night of stories and poetry.

The theme of the night of stories and poetry will be The Sound of Illumination.

The evening will be hosted by Erez Safar & Mashi Cohen with an opening set by Deborah Stokol on harp.

About Light of Infinite:

Light of Infinite is a blog, a podcast, a festival and a book series, where Erez Safar acts as Your Spiritual DJ, curating insights into the weekly Torah portion and the infinite light of Kabbalah.

About Der Nister:
Der Nister (Yiddish: The Hidden) is the brainchild of Henry Hollander, a Jewish bookseller and rabbinical student, and Rabbi Zach Golden, the Deputy Editor of the Yiddish publication the Forverts. Located in Mr. Hollander’s antiquarian bookstore, those who come will be surrounded by treasures of Jewish civilization – Jewish books that span the centuries, and beautiful views of the skyline, deep learning and musical prayer.

About Erez Safar:
Based out of the stereophonic heart of Los Angeles, Erez Safar is an award-winning producer, best-selling author of Light of the Infinite, creative machine, and gallerist. Safar was grateful to be recognized as one of the world’s most influential Jews in the Forward’s annual “Forward 50” list. His companies have graced Billboard magazine and he has been featured in publications such as NPR and the NY Times to USA Today and the Wall Street Journal.

About Mashi Cohen:
Mashi is a multi-passionate entrepreneur and yoga teacher from NJ. She founded Theliber8xperience, a wellness brand centered around yoga, dance, sound, and community, as a way to help people feel free in their bodies and minds. Mashi’s own physical and mental health journey through anorexia, addiction, depression, and anxiety, inspires her every day to bring people together in ways that are fun, wholesome, and meaningful. She teaches yoga in a signature “rap / hip-hop” style, with live DJ music and rhyming cues.

About Deborah Stokol:
Deborah Stokol is a modern bard who fuses her backgrounds in composition, journalism, poetry, and English-teaching with the music she makes. She writes pieces across genre and style to literature, folklore from around the world, sacred text, and the oral tradition using her voice, words, production, and several instruments; she is about to release her fourth and fifth albums, a duology about myth, nature, and love. You can find nearly 100 released songs wherever you stream.
